IELTS

What is IELTS?

IELTS stands for the International English Language Testing System. It is an internationally standardised test of English language proficiency for non- native English language speakers, jointly owned by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English.

. Every candidate aspiring to study or work in an English speaking country must appear for this test and score the required bands for successful completion of his profile. An aspirant can choose to appear with the aforementioned institutions.

Modules of IELTS :

There are two versions of the IELTS test-
Academic and General Training

IELTS Academic

The IELTS Academic assesses English language knowledge for people who plan to study in higher educational institutes or seeking professional registration.
There are 89 universities in Canada only and over 9000 institutes across the globe that accept IELTS score.

IELTS General

The IELTS General Training exam measures English language proficiency in practical everyday context. It is designed for people who wish to migrate to an English speaking country.
The tasks in the test reflect an aspirant’s response at both workplace and social situations.

Task 1

Presentation of graph, table, chart or diagram

Task 2

Essay Writing on topics of general interest for test takers entering undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Task 1

Writing a letter requesting information, or explaining the situation. The letter may be personal, semi-formal or formal in style.

Task 2

Essay writing in response to a point of view, argument or problem. The essay can be fairly personal in style.

A candidate may retake the IELTS exam any time.

You can apply for a re- evaluation or an Enquiry on Results at your test centre not later than six weeks of the test date. You must pay an enquiry fee, which will be refunded if your bands score change after re-evaluation. The IELTS testing process has a very high standard of control procedures and the chances of change in scores after re-evaluation are significantly low.

There are no pass marks in IELTS. Your performance in each section will be rated on a band scale of 1 to 9. All educational institutions set their own minimum IELTS scores eligibility.
